My Students
My students and their school are a very social and energetic group of learners who love to learn about the world through science. Observing, asking questions, and sharing ideas with each other is always inspirational to see. They love opportunities to use their creativity in the classroom, and to test and explore ideas shared. Hands on activities that allow for them to physically explore and create is of course a favorite.
My enthusiastic young leaders of tomorrow attend a small neighborhood school.
It is in a low income area that affects the resources they have to work with. We utilize the resources at school as best as possible and recognize our students may not always have those resources at home.
Many of the technology opportunities these students have are at school and they are always excited to explore this very dynamic and rapidly changing world.
My Project
Students have lots of struggles that keep them from reaching their full learning potential. COVID-19 has definitely added to the challenges students face with both social-emotional and academic learning. Wither it is feeling stuck learning something they already know, not feeling like they know enough to get it yet, or somewhere in-between, motivating and inspiring these learners to do more is the key. A lot of the behavioral issues in the classroom can be helped when we make connections and build positivity with the students. My project is aimed at helping reach students curiosity, interest, and more to connect and motivate them to do more. This 3d printer will be used for multiple classes and grades to create models for teaching, personalized rewards for struggling students that connect to them, and the ability for students to design and create their own as they learn about this technology.
