My Project
I teach a wonderful group of kindergarten students with autism in a Moderate-Severe classroom at a Title I school. My students are full of joy and curiosity and are always eager to learn, despite the challenges they face. They are kind, resilient, and love engaging in activities that are hands-on and fun.
This project is designed to help my students develop critical social skills through the use of board games.
The games I am requesting will provide them with opportunities to practice turn-taking, cooperative play, and problem-solving in an engaging and interactive way. These skills are foundational for their social-emotional growth and will also help them build relationships with their peers.
Board games offer a hands-on learning experience that allows my students to learn naturally while having fun. Many of the students in my classroom benefit from structured, visual, and repetitive activities, which games provide in a meaningful way. These resources will allow me to create small group activities where each child can feel included and successful, while also reinforcing important concepts like counting, matching, and following directions.
My goal for this project is to give my students the tools to practice and enhance their social and cognitive skills while enjoying the process of learning. Watching their faces light up when they learn something new or successfully complete a game is priceless. These games will not only enhance their learning but will also create moments of joy and connection that are so valuable in their development.
Thank you for considering helping my students grow, learn, and thrive through the power of play!
