Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are curious and hands-on learners who love solving problems and working on real-world projects. They take pride in their ability to learn new skills and contribute meaningfully to our classroom and community.
To celebrate the Lunar New Year and encourage practical learning, I’m seeking a toolkit filled with essential tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, and other repair supplies.
These tools will be used to teach students basic repair and maintenance skills while connecting the experience to the themes of renewal and preparation that are central to the Lunar New Year.
Students will use these tools to fix and improve classroom items, such as broken furniture or loose fixtures, reinforcing the idea of care and responsibility. This hands-on approach will not only celebrate the spirit of the Lunar New Year but also provide my students with valuable skills they can use beyond the classroom.
This toolkit will empower my students to take an active role in maintaining their environment while learning practical life skills. The experience will also highlight the importance of care, community, and renewal, values deeply tied to the Lunar New Year tradition.
