Building School Community Through Live- Streaming Special Events

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
School spirit is an important part in helping to increase student engagement. Every year, our school hosts a number of school events like the Annual 8th grade flag football Turkey Bowl, 8th grade softball game versus the staff and teachers, and 8th grade basketball game versus the staff and teachers. These events including many others help build a sense of pride and unity among the school community. We have been live streaming with limited technology. Streaming has been difficult and unclear at times for teachers who have participated in streaming with their students.
Our need is to improve our ability to live stream which will increase parent, student, and community involvement during these events.
Using better and improved technology to livestream events will provide a way for parents and students who can not attend these events to watch and support these events. Classroom teachers can continue to watch these events with their students from the classroom as the event is happening live. Having the ability to livestream effectively will allow all students and parents to take part in our amazing events. This will help strengthen the sense of community by allowing a broader audience to share in the excitement.
Students interested in media, broadcasting or video production will gain valuable hands-on experience by operating cameras and managing livestreams. This project will also help support students create videos for projects and for group presentations. Your support will not only make a difference in my classroom but schoolwide.
