This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are special, because they are ready to learn in so many different ways. One of my students' favorite ways to learn is through play based inquiry.

Our school is a unique community center that serves an urban neighborhood where groups of immigrants reside during their first years of living in the United States, the students bring their diversity of language and richness of culture to our school.

My students walk to school. Our school has one hundred percent free school lunch.

My students love school and look forward to coming to learn every single day.

My Project

Coming to first grade, my students often wonder, "When do we get to play?" First Grade has become a rigorous and standards driven program that prepares students for the rest of their elementary school Learning and beyond. I enjoy giving my students breaks where they learn from meaningful play. Legos are the perfect tools for young builders and engineers.

My students will learn how to build, use their imaginations, work together in collaborative groups, and enhance their language skills through play.

My students would greatly benefit from this type of learning/play, because they will be able to initiate projects and lead their own learning as well as teach each other.
