Help me give my students at-home libraries by building bookshelves filled with books in their homes!
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Hardy's classroom raised $990
This project is fully funded
My Project
Our second-grade students love to read around the clock. Many of them enjoy borrowing books from the classroom and engaging with them at home, but what if we could create a permanent space for them to have a collection of books at home? Our students need access to books they love at home, and you can help!
The concept is to collect milk cartons, fill them with books, stack them as high as they can go, and create at-home bookshelves filled with books for our students to enjoy.
Milk carton libraries provide children with easy access to a variety of books, fostering a love for reading from a young age. This initiative helps bridge the literacy gap and ensures that second graders have a range of books at their disposal not just in school but in the comfort of their homes. Milk carton libraries are portable, allowing children to take their books anywhere. Personalizing the cartons through decoration makes the library a unique and inviting space, and encourages children to engage with their books more effectively. As students read more books at school and at home, they'll be able to close literacy gaps across all content areas.
More than half of students from low‑income households
