Building Reading Area

Help me give my students a better reading experience with a much more comfortable reading area. We will also use the snacks for our book club meetings.

My Students

I truly believe that every book is a portal to a new and interesting journey. I hope that my students and I can go on numerous adventures through books this year. Our classroom is home to several amazing boys and girls that love to read. Getting our class to read is never a challenge. I often find my students anxious for another student to get through a book so that they can get their opportunity to read it as well. As a person who loves and owns a personal library with over three hundred books, this makes me very happy and excited.

I would like to provide these students with a means to read collaboratively and be able to bond with one another over a book and build strong relationships.

While my students love to read, I often have noticed that they repeat books quite often. I’m no stranger to re-reading books as I’ve read the Buford High Book series myself numerous times. I think they get caught up in the comfortability of reading what they know they’ll enjoy; I want to use this book club to broaden their reading.

My Project

This project will help our students to have a more comfortable area to read and relax in with throw pillows. This comfort will go along way towards making them excited for reading. We will also use this project to help fund the snack cost for our previous book club project.

Having a comfortable area to read in can help negate the noise that our students have to deal with when they look to read.

It's my hope that this area will impact our students tremendously and help to turn them into lifelong readers.
