My students need letter sound tubs to practice the letter sound relationship. They also need a circle time calendar to practice preschool skills.

My Students
I teach students from various cultural backgrounds. With these differences, each student adds something wonderful to create a dynamic learning environment. They enjoy working and learning together and using their imaginations to create new worlds. The students enjoy listening to many different stories and hearing about the adventures of their favorite literary characters. The school is a large urban public school where all of the students receive free or reduced priced lunch. The Head Start program services students from low income families.
My Project
My goal as a preschool teacher is to strengthen phonemic awareness skills in my students. I hope to achieve this through the use of fun and manipulative materials such as letter tubs and a circle time learning center.
By using the letter tubs, students will be able to practice skills such as, initial sound fluency, rhyming, and phoneme segmentation.
These skills are necessary for students to become fluent readers. If the students are able to practice these skills while having fun, they will more easily retain the necessary skills to become fluent readers.
It is proven that phonemic awareness skills are best developed by the age of 8. I plan to help my students polish these skills at an early age.
