My Project
More than ever before, students' emotional intelligence, executive functioning, and engagement are linked to their successful learning outcomes. Through this project, I intend to help all the students on our grade level see themselves in the fantastic stories of diverse leaders in STEM, enriching their academic experience and encouraging them to dream, set goals for their learning, and persevere through challenges. In my own classroom, the addition of engaging hands-on materials (magnetic fraction tiles), flexible options for completing assignments and demonstrating understanding (dry erase clipboards, lap desks, colored pencils, and the amazing blinged-out microphone for sharing their thinking), and emotional regulation tools (calming strips) will build perseverance and executive functioning skills crucial for student success. I can't wait to get started using these materials!
