Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Over the years, I’ve learned that one of the biggest obstacles to learning isn’t a lack of ability—it’s the fear of judgment. When students feel like they’re being watched, compared, or expected to perform at a certain level all the time, it creates stress. And that stress can shut down their willingness to try, to explore, and most importantly, to grow.
I love each of my students for exactly who they are.
Each one brings their own strengths, challenges, and personality into our classroom. But I’ve seen how the pressure of being a "perfect student" can make even the most capable kids stop raising their hands, second-guess their answers, or shut down completely.
That’s why I want to create a more calming, flexible, and supportive classroom environment. By adding curtains and light filters, I can soften the harsh, fluorescent lighting that often adds to student anxiety. Flexible seating will allow small groups to work comfortably on their individual goals in a space that feels safe and inviting—not rigid or high-pressure.
My goal is simple: help students feel calm, supported, and free to be themselves—so they can focus on learning, not on how they’re being judged. With your help, we can build a space that promotes not just academic success, but emotional well-being and a lifelong love of learning.
