My Project

Students need to practice failure in order to be able to succeed. Failure teaches us to evaluate our plan and make a better one. Failure teaches us to think critically along the path to a solution. Building materials like Magna Tiles provide students with a fun, engaging, low stakes, low stress way of experiencing failure and building perseverance. These tiles can be made into so many different things, but there is often an order or direction in which the tiles need to be positioned in order for the design to work. Magna Tiles also have a tendency to collapse under too much pressure, which means students have to be able to deal with frustration and keep going. By using Magna Tiles, I believe my Kindergarten students will be able to build some of the skills they will need to help them persevere in the upper grades when content becomes more challenging.
