Building Our STEM Lab

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Each school day, close to 400 students arrive at our campus. We serve a low income community, and currently have 93% of students on Free and Reduced Lunch. Students are working hard every day to learn the academic and life skills that they will need to be successful in today's world.

One way that we would like to enrich our students' learning experience is to build a STEM Lab right here on campus.

We need help getting this project off the ground.

We want our students to have access to 3D printers, graphic design tools, recording equipment, robotics, building materials and many other items that will make our STEM Lab a worthy destination for teachers and students. This will help us to ensure that our students are getting equitable education experiences. This will be the first of many Donors Choose projects to get our lab up and running.

My Project

We are in the process of finding items to house in our STEM Lab. A 3D printer is at the top of our list. Teachers will be able to take students to the lab to create projects together and teach the students how to use different items. We will have volunteers to help out as well. Imagine a classroom of students watching and helping to get a printing project started and then come back the next day to see the results.

Our students need to have exposure to innovative technology projects to help them be aware of and successful with technology in their futures.
