My students have the ability to build strong reading skills, but need someone to believe in them. They enter the classroom every day, putting their best foot forward and making attempts to progress. They want to learn, they know they need to learn and I want to do the very best I can to teach them. I couldn't pick a better group of students to work with. I am very honored to be their teacher. I can't wait to see their progress.
My Project
Getting my students to grade level text is the ultimate goal. Having reading books in fiction and nonfiction helps to gives my students access to a variety of books to increase engagement and motivate more reading. By using these books, small groups can be done to target key reading skills and strategies. Students will increase their reading comprehension skills as well as identifying parts of a nonfiction text. Becoming experts at reading books at grade level gives my students the head start to become well prepared for the second grade and every other grade to come. I can't wait for progress.
