Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am teaching social studies and science to all of our 3rd graders this year! They love to learn and get their hands dirty. My students live in an extremely low-income area which often limits their exposure to life experiences. Because of this, I try to bring as many real-life discoveries into our classroom that I can. My students take on every challenge head-on and would love to have a science-based classroom!
My students work really hard to achieve our classroom goals, I want to make sure they have everything they need to be successful.
That includes having the support and resources they need to help them build their love for reading and education!
My Project
My students and I would like to request a fun and exciting way to explore STEM. We would like to ask for 12 (from all 3 combined projects) Wedo 2.0 Lego kits. We need 12 so that students can work in pairs to solve problems and create solutions using their lego kits. My goal is to get students to use a material they already know and love (Legos) to create new models and solve real-world problems. These kits link up to iPads, to help give students directions, and allow them to use motors and other technology to power their creations! I think that they buy-in from my students would be huge. But, most importantly, kids will enjoy what they do in our class and see themselves as scientists and problem-solvers. Plus, working as a team is extremely important, and I want to give my students as much positive interactions with their peers as possible! Thank you for considering our project and helping us to make a brighter future for students!
