My Students
"Teachers who love teaching, Teach kids to love learning"-- This quote inspires me to be the best teacher I can be for all of my scholars.
My scholars are so lovable.
I have a class full of 5 and 6 year old kindergarteners with some of the biggest hearts in the school. Most, if not all, are poverty stricken, living in a neighborhood with the highest crime rate in Charlotte, NC. Despite their home environments, all of my students come to me eager to learn and become successful scholars. I have a class of scholars who come into Kindergarten without the basic skills, many teachers would expect their kindergarteners to know. It is my job to earn their trust, make them successful and teach them everything I can.
My Project
My students need hands on games and materials to help make literacy fun- letter stamps, puzzles, and phonemic awareness activities. With these materials, I will be able to foster a fun, yet rigorous learning environment. It is my goal, to have 100 percent of my scholars fully ready to start first grade at the end of the year. It is also my goal, to have a classroom full of readers. Learning to read in Kindergarten, sets my scholars up for the ultimate success in years to come. Literacy centers, is something that allows me to work with scholars in small groups to best meet their needs. During this time, other scholars are doing multiple activities all over the classroom called literacy centers. These materials will ensure scholars are having fun, but also leaning how to read and write their letters, sights works and basic CVC words. Having effective literacy centers, will ensure that my scholars are constantly learning, while also having fun.
These games and materials will provide my scholars with a variety of activities for them to learn their Alphabet and Sight words and reading basic CVC words.
They can stamp sight words, put together an alphabet train, or even write CVC words! Each of these games/ materials, will be used centers, so that students can have fun while independently fostering their own learning. During this time, it allows me to work with students in small groups to best fit their needs.
