Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Having Lego bricks in my new STEAM classroom will be so useful as we have many engineering projects planned for this year. Creating buildings, bridges, and other structures with Lego bricks will enhance our classroom environment and help with the engineering design process. STEAM education is an approach to teaching and learning that combines science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math to guide student inquiry, discussion, and problem solving.

My students also work on creativity challenges which help them think in different ways.

Some studies suggest a decline in creative thinking with age, which is a problem since creativity and problem solving are essential skills for STEM careers. Scientists, computer programmers, engineers, and mathematicians all need to be able to think creatively and brainstorm solutions quickly in order to solve problems.

Having Lego bricks available for all the students will help them explore real-world challenges, fostering curiosity and a love for discovery. These experiences nurture their ability to analyze, experiment, and collaborate, preparing them to thrive in a technology-driven society. I want to encourage my students to embrace STEAM education today in order to set the foundation for their future, empowering them to become the innovators, thinkers, and problem solvers of tomorrow!
