Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As first graders, there are so many "firsts" that will happen this school year. It is very exciting to see the exponential growth first graders show from the first day of school to the very last. My goal is for all my students to be well rounded in all subject areas while enjoying school.

I have a classroom full of vivacious and inquisitive first graders.

My students are driven and come to school with a natural curiosity of the world around them. Like other young students, they are excited about learning and playing with their friends. My students are from various backgrounds, and at our school we celebrate our diversity. Our school is a math and science magnet, and our students come from all around our district.

My Project

The books we have requested are for our Guided Reading program. My students come to class at varying levels and with varying interests, especially focusing on science themes. The books I have requested will address the multiple levels of my students as well as address their varying interests. I will provide differentiated small group instruction by utilizing the books that I have requested. The leveled books will provide my students with an individualized and differentiated opportunity for them to build their reading skills. I will also organize the books using the tubs that are being requested. I have also requested other organizational tools to help me organize and maintain their classroom library so my students will be able to access the leveled books.

This project will improve my classroom by providing Guided Reading leveled books to help my students build their decoding, fluency, and comprehension skills.

My students will also be able to enjoy different genres and interests, such as science. My classroom instruction will definitely improve because I will be able to provide targeted, differentiated small group time for my students. We will be able to organize the books so that my students will be able to access them.
