Building on Spelling and Vocabulary During Distance Learning! (Title 1)
Help me give my students a classroom subscription to Spelling Classroom, as well as packs of index cards and index card holders for each student to use during distance learning.
I am a third-grade teacher with a wonderful group of students. They are constantly impressing me with their hard-working attitudes, amazing work ethics, and overall positive outlooks on life. I am so proud to be their teacher. They deserve the best education possible.
I teach at a rural, Title I school in North Carolina.
Every child receives free breakfast and lunch. We are located near a large military base and, as a result, serve children of active duty and retired military. Our school serves students from many socioeconomic backgrounds including homeless students, who at times may live with family, friends, or other relatives.
Our students are bright and eager to learn new things. They are hard workers and strive to make their world a better place.
My Project
Everyone was thrown for a loop this past school year, when we all ended up teaching our students from home in the spring. I know it was a different experience for sure, but in a way, it helped me better prepare for the start of this school year. While teaching from home at the end of last school year, I realized that I had to be very resourceful and creative while teaching away from the kids, as well as being limited to resources. Keeping that in mind, I want to give my students every chance possible this year to learn and grow- no matter if we stay in distance learning long term, or move into a hybrid school plan.
This project would be immensely helpful for my students right now, because they could use more support with spelling while learning from home.
A class account on Spelling Classroom would allow me to customize spelling assignments and other activities for each student, ensuring that they are still getting their needs met in the areas of both spelling, and even extra support in vocabulary. So many factors can be considered during distance learning such as time, attendance, resources, etc... I want to make sure my students are getting as much as of this school year as possible. An account on Spelling Classroom would help my spelling instruction. This will also be a great tool for the kids to use at home and learn their spelling words in a fun and engaging way with their families. I am also requesting packs of index cards and index card holders for my students, so they can keep on their new vocabulary and spelling words organized and in one place.
