This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My project is to procure supplies to create an inviting music classroom, including music-themed books for a reading corner, building up our limited supply of classroom instruments, and putting up posters on our wall in order to encourage students in our low income community to come to school and enjoy music experiences.

Currently, our music room does not have decorations on the walls (that aren't home-made by me), has no reading corner, and has a limited number of instruments due to this being the first year of them growing the music program here.

We are a school with a high population of struggling families, and the students do not get many fun new cultural experiences outside of the classrooms. Without engaging equipment and any decorations, the music room feels bland and the students are missing a key element of their elementary experience to become successful and compassionate human beings and musicians.
