This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I recently had my students write reflections about school. When asked what they loved about school many responded "math". And when asked what they still need help with some still responded "math". 2nd grade is a time when kids still love math, but it may start to get a little bit complicated. I want to develop students who LOVE math and are not scared of it.

I am always looking at new ways to teach and motivate students to love math.

They want to be challenged and deserve to be motivated to learn. I want to attend Math workshops where I can learn new and engaging strategies to build a strong math foundation.

My Project

I am always looking for ideas on how to improve math instruction. Kids are expected to be able to explain their thinking and to solve problems.

With these books, I will implement more routines that are engaging for students.

These books address all math common core standards. I want kids to be confident mathematicians. These strategies will be used daily in our math routine to strengthen number sense and help students have a concrete understanding of our number system. I want kids to not be afraid of word problems and to be able to explain their math thinking. I want to share this information with parents too, through math workshops and mini lessons.
