This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I will be entering my classroom as a first year teacher in a 4th grade classroom in the fall. Their reading levels range from a level L-U. As my students will be at varying levels, I want to make sure that the book selection in my classroom is reflective of this.

It is critical to me that my classroom library is culturally relevant-- where my students can relate the content that they are reading to their own lives and backgrounds.

My Project

This fall will begin my first year of teaching. Something that is very mportant to me is to make sure that I have an abundant classroom library, where all my students are able to find books that they love and enjoy. To do so, I need to make sure that my classroom library has a mix of both fiction and non-fiction books, as well as books at different levels.

The books that I have selected are a foundation of which I hope to build my classroom library on.

These books are not just fun and engaging, but also provide students with a social justice framework and understanding.
