Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students consist of inner city children that come from low income families, some are even homeless. As a teacher in an Urban Abbot district, I work with four and five year-old students ranging in levels of development. I have several students with special needs (IEP's) that are currently mainstreamed into my general education classroom. One student in particular currently has a personal aid to help support him in his daily school related tasks.

My Project
My students will be able to learn how to use this requested a Nikon DSLR digital camera and wide Wide-Angle Prime Lens, a tripod, shoulder bag, SanDisk memory card, and Insignia? lens cap. The camera will be used to document their learning and special projects. Additionally, we'll document field trips and school events to share with their families.
Another wonder way we will use this camera and accessories is to encourage children to build their very own digital portfolio (a collection of all of their school work and growth throughout the school year) which will be shared with their families, as well as their Kindergarten teachers for a better assessment of students' development.
This will also be a wonderful way to collect meaningful photographic anecdotes to show student growth and progression throughout the year.
Many of our students' families don't have the time or means of documenting their child's growth. This is a wonderful way to assist students and parents in collecting these important memories! Using technology in the classroom is imperative in today's day and age. Engaging students in the terminology involved with these tools is helpful to them. It also helps children develop their language and phonemic awareness skills.
Lastly, it will be wonderful to see the world documented through the eyes of my young learners. Capturing how they view their surroundings and openly discussing such will be an enriching experience for them that will allow them to build wonderful memories that will last a life time!
