My students need Straws and Connectors and a Marble Run to inspire their STEM thinking strategies.

My Students
We are an integrated co-teaching classroom in the Bronx with 26 kindergarten students, each with unique strengths and challenges.
The 26 sprouts in our classroom have begun to blossom!
You can see and hear these great minds blooming as they begin to realize those squiggles on the page are words and that they can read them!
In our classroom, we strive to create a caring and safe learning environment where all students feel confident to take risks and grow as learners. We meet the needs of our diverse population by emphasizing compassion and respect for all.
My Project
Block play is open-ended and its possibilities are endless. Our students work hard during independent math centers in our traditional block area. It is a favorite choice for students and we would like to encourage students to think differently in this area.
We would like to expand their learning by adding these building sets that encourage children to develop skills in design, representation, balance, and stability.
These building sets, including Mega Marble Run and a Straws and Connectors set, encourage students to think about building more like an engineer or architect.
The block area is not just for math skills! It also encourages social interactions and language skills, as well as many different STEM skills.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
