Building Math Thinking Wipe On, Wipe Off

My Project

Next school year, I am using Peter Liljedahl's framework for building thinking classroom to engage students in rich mathematics tasks. These white boards and grid boards will help develop students thinking about math task.

To engage students thinking about mathematics, they will work together in groups of 3, standing at a whiteboard and working to solve various math tasks.

With their peers, students will increase their communication skills as they discuss how to solve problems. Students are able to take risks by trying various strategies to solve task. They will learn from their mistakes, which can eraser and students can try again. Students will take turns writing on the whiteboard. Students will help their fellow classmates if they are struggling to understand. These whiteboards, help to change the way the classroom traditionally looks, and promote students doing more thinking about math processes.
