My Project

My students are curious, ask great questions, and have varied learning needs. Each child is unique with specific strengths and needs in order to be successful. Some require concrete materials, resources, scaffolding, and many opportunities to practice.

Using high quality literature as a springboard to introduce new math concepts truly helps students conceptualize and retain new math concepts over time.

I love fostering opportunities that blend reading and math together. Using literature as a starting point to learn a new concept is the perfect opportunity to grab their attention. Incorporating literature can help make math more concrete and connect to real world situations.

I truly love integrating subjects, especially math and literature. The books I have chosen will be used in a classroom or in a small group setting as read alouds to introduce new math concepts. There are specific planned lessons for each book with multiple hands on math activities aligned to Common Core State Standards.
