it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach in a rural school where resources are often limited, but my students are full of heart, curiosity, and an eagerness to learn. Many come from homes without access to books, so our classroom and school library are their main sources of reading material. What makes my students truly special is their resilience—they show up each day ready to grow, explore, and engage with the world around them through stories and learning. Their excitement when they discover a new favorite book is a joy to witness and fuels my passion for teaching.
The goal of this project is to build a strong foundation for literacy by providing engaging, high-quality books for both book study units and our classroom library.
These books will support comprehension skills, vocabulary development, and foster a lifelong love of reading. They’ll also allow students to participate in meaningful discussions, make text-to-self and text-to-world connections, and deepen their understanding of story structure and character development. Your support will help ensure all students—regardless of their background—have access to the tools they need to become confident, enthusiastic readers.
