This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I currently teach two special needs pre-k classrooms in the Washoe county school district. We have a combined 42 students who are in my classrooms everyday. Each day students get to work together to learn the scientific method at one center.

I am requesting supplies for our daily STEM challenges which promote problem solving skills, cooperation and build our students self-esteem.

These supplies will meet our pre-k standards of:

N.PK.5 Students work in small groups and share

ideas with others regarding to science related activities.

P.PK.3 Explore what happens to objects in relation to other

forces (e.g., magnets, gravity, and water).

C13.PK.2 Participate in group decision making.

1.PK.2a Express ideas for activities; initiate and

participate in discussions with teachers or peers.

and

4.PK.1d Demonstrate problem-solving skills.

Our students love participating in STEM challenges, however it is difficult to come up with new challenges with the exact same materials for an entire year. These materials will add many new challenges and allow our students to build their scientific minds.
