Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 3rd grade math and science class is a place of rigorous learning. Our students are gearing up for their first year with the STEM curriculum. Our third grade students are excited with challenges and ingenuity with hands on activities.

Our school is a title I school in which 90 percent of our students are on free and reduced lunch, and half our students are below the socio economic status.

Our school is in the heart community with limited resources.

When students enter my classroom they have the chance to develop an innovative approach to learning that teaches a multitude of strategies critical for success in the 21 century.

My Project

STEM books in my science class will help my vast growing English Language Learners known as ESL students. The science textbooks are to complex for our beginner to intermediate ESL students. These STEM books will help build schema by making stories relatable to all students.

STEM books will help build academic language and promote literacy skills.

STEM is not just building items, it is unique way of using 21 century skills to learn the world around them.

These STEM books will spark questioning, problem solving and illustration that provide reflection and learning. Students will also learn trial and error when it comes to building or learning concepts. STEM books are what I need in my math and science classroom.
