My Students
My students are more than just my students, they are "My Kids". They are full of love, curiosity, and perseverance. They come from all walks of life, with varying home lives and academic abilities. No matter what their backgrounds are, they all come to school with enthusiasm and grit. They take each day’s challenges in stride and work hard to achieve their goals.
All students deserve to be given the gift of a quality education, full of authentic learning opportunities.
It is my goal, as their teacher, to provide these opportunities through a variety of media. Funding my project will enhance my student’s daily multisensory experiences.
My Project
I believe that all students can learn at high levels if they are given meaningful experiences. After “The year of Covid” I find that student reading levels are scattered all over the charts. I see phonics and reading gaps from a year of digital learning. Students need intense instruction in phonics and the materials in this project will provide just that! The materials in this project will naturally differentiate phonics lessons at all academic levels. The Phonics Builder Magnetic Kits, Word Building Stations, and Flip Books are a great hands on tools to aide in closing reading gaps caused by distance learning.
The Letter Tile Kits, Stations, and Flip books give students hands on, multi-sensory experiences in word building, blending, and phoneme manipulation.
The letter tile kits are made to be used during whole group and small group instruction as well as independent work times. The tiles and other resources are not simply letters, but also include vowel teams, digraphs, and diphthongs as well as syllable boards and color tiles for phonological awareness practice. They are color coded for a visual reminder of letter types. The tiles are organized in box and also have a magnetic work board which doubles as a dry-erase board. Each student can use the tiles and resources according to their individual levels.
Using one product at multiple learning levels is a win-win situation in the classroom. Hands on manipulation is the perfect way to practice reading and spelling words. Being organized is also a helpful factor in a lower elementary classroom. I will know that the resources are successful classroom tools, when I see my students engaged in their own learning, and their phonics benchmarks are being met. I can’t wait to see students reading their way to success with letter tiles!
