My Students
I teach 18 of the most curious, enthusiastic, helpful and absolutely adorable 3K and Pre-K students you will ever meet. The anticipation of their morning hugs gives me motivation every day.
Every day I'm intrigued by my students' growth and understanding of the world around them.
Like most children, my students love to create and express their knowledge through art and building. But what I find most impressive is the sense of community and constant encouragement my students give to each other. While at the art center, they gather enough materials for everyone at their table. When someone is having a difficult time, they offer encouraging words or help to find solutions to their problems. They take turns closing the back of each other's smocks before painting. All without my direction.
My Project
Pre K students thrive in an environment that is warm, colorful and filled with quality, print rich content. Having a print rich environment promotes literacy, independence and inspires the students creativity. They are able to see the language and make connections about the world.
Having a printer in our classroom will allow our class to have immediate access to the pictures and literacy content that we need to display.
To support student's independence and confidence in the classroom, we provide tools of autonomy. Tools of Autonomy are interactive visuals through which children can begin to develop autonomy in the Pre-K classroom. This includes labels on materials and furniture, signs, and charts of classroom expectations. Since they cannot read words yet, the visuals allows them to understand the information.
