My Students
My students are given independent reading time each day to practice the skills we learn within literacy. Unfortunately, we do no have enough books to meet the needs and ability levels of our readers. We are a new, exciting middle school who is looking to create lovers of literature and reading.
My students are hardworking and enjoy learning new things.
Our school was established in 2014 and we are currently building our school community and curriculum to meet the needs of our students. We found that many of our students are coming into middle school up to two grade levels behind in reading. We need more appropriate books for our students' ability levels. If we can get them reading books that are "just right" for them, then we can begin to build a love of reading and work to bring them up to grade level standards. We are a young, "up and coming" school looking to get our footing in the community and to make a difference in the lives of the students and their families.
My Project
We will use these books on a daily basis. As part of our literacy curriculum, the students have time for independent reading and guided reading instruction each day. They will utilize these books to hone the skills taught within literacy and build home-school connections by continuing their reading outside of the classroom.
Your donation will allow me to do the most important thing I can do as an educator - get my children reading.
Through increased exposure and appropriately leveled texts, the students will be able to practice the skills modeled in class and build on their own skills.
