My students come to my speech/language room with a diverse set of skills and needs. These materials will assist me with scaffolding to students' specific needs in order to build their speech and language skills. Whether they can access books or may need more hands-on materials, these items when utilized in speech/language sessions will support language growth. In turn, language growth will support academic growth. My goal for this project is to expand my material toolbox in order to meet my students where they are at to access speech/language sessions. Some of my students have attention difficulties and cannot access worksheets or books. Therefore, items such as Legos or Playdough will allow me to engage in play-based therapy to support overall language development. My students are special because each and every one of them has the potential to make growth with their speech/language skills, and when given the appropriate tools to do so, we will see that growth happen. I would be grateful for the opportunity to provide my students with a variety of materials to suit their needs and am excited to see the growth they will make when given the chance.
