Help me give my students the opportunity to create sight word sentences and build their vocabulary with Independent Literacy Centers.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Woode's classroom raised $457
This project is fully funded
My Students
My students from Crown Heights, Brooklyn are the most creative, curious, kind and engaging students. They are eager to learn and want to read everything. Many of them are beginning and emergent readers. Some of them are just learning to sound out words.
They look forward to being able to take picture walks in their favorite books and sharing what they have read with their classmates during reading time.
My Project
In my classroom, we strive to provide students with many opportunities to be autonomous and independent. My students will benefit greatly from having independent learning literacy centers.
These Lakeshore Learning literacy centers will allow my students to learn in the most meaningful way through hands-on experience.
My students will use these independent literacy centers during center time while I am providing instruction to a small group of students. This will help me to give support to students where they need it. These literacy centers will help my students become more autonomous. They will also help my students practice and reinforce key skills, such as sight word, letter and sound recognition, language, and vocabulary development.
My students will have the ability to independently choose a literacy center during center time. These centers are fun and engaging and I know that my students will definitely benefit from being able to engage independently or with a partner during center time.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
