My Students
I believe that every student should walk into a well-stocked classroom where they will always have the supplies to create, learn, and explore new ideas.
Welcome to a 3rd grade, bilingual classroom full of hard-working, enthusiastic students!
My bilingual classroom is the landing spot for 3rd graders who have just arrived in the United States. My students are incredibly hard workers who always come to school ready to learn, no matter what is going on outside of the classroom. My goal as a teacher is to provide my students with all that they need to be successful learners.
My Project
We are a magnet school for engineering and architecture. During the year, we study the architecture of different cities and civilizations around the world. As part of studying architecture, my students learn how different buildings were influenced by the culture of different civilizations. These materials, including the building sets and planning tools will help my students understand different cultures by creating different models representing a culture and its unique traditions in architecture.
Using architecture as a vehicle for studying world civilizations will help my students learn about different cultures and traditions, building tolerance and understanding of people who come from different places.
My students will then "bring it home", and study their own cultures through architecture. They will learn about the architecture from their countries, as well as in the United States, and share their cultural traditions with their peers. Many who have lived abroad will be able to share their knowledge and teach their classmates about their life in another country. These planning tools and architecture books will help them to create floor plans and use them to build models of homes like those found in their countries. Finally, students will host a cultural celebration for their families, showing off all that they have learned about architecture, culture and their own history.
