My Project
This project will reach special education students at Whittier, especially those who are in our Federal Setting III Emotional and Behavioral Disability classroom that we affectionately call "the Den." The Den is a home base for these students, who often have difficulty with emotional regulation, exhibit big behaviors, and are easily overstimulated throughout the school day.
Fort-building materials like these will help our students practice self-regulation skills when upset and practice team-building skills during choice time!
During choice time or during and after being dysregulated, the kids in the Den love to build forts. Right now, they are building forts out of whatever they can find, but we want to give them a better experience!
