This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our science lab is a place of challenge and discovery. Students will spend this year learning the foundation of knowledge and skills they will need as they pursue their education.

The students that I have a privilege of teaching are 3rd and 4th graders in an urban inner city elementary school.

They are excited to explore the world of science, to perform experiments, and to expand their capacity for critical thinking. They take pride in their efforts and are willing to challenge their minds for the sake of learning.

Our student population is 99% minority and over 85% receive free or reduced price lunch. With that being said, I believe that they deserve the BEST education and every opportunity to be successful in fulfilling their dreams

My Project

We need Dominoes to build the domino effect so they can observe the transfer of energy. I am requesting six sets, one for each table. What better way to learn about transfer of energy (mechanical energy) than working with dominoes. Students will build a domino maze and observe the domino effect. They will learn, what happens when they tap one domino, if built correctly they will see one domino fall after another and be AMAZED by it all.

Not only will they learn to work in cooperative groups but build memories that will last a lifetime.

There is no better joy for a teacher than for her or him to see their students smile and have fun while learning a difficult concept.
