One of the best ways to become a fluent reader is exposure to fluent reading! My young readers need all the exposure they can get to become expressive, fluent readers.
My school is located in Southeast Georgia.
My Pre-K-fifth grade school is a small school with a high free- and reduced-lunch rate. Many of the students are English language learners and would benefit greatly from stories on CD. My classroom has 22 young learners in second grade. They love to read and be read to!
My Project
What we need are more resources for my students to be able to listen to fluent reading. We currently have several CD players, but need read along books with CDs. Reading opens so many doors to children. Understanding the world around them and being able to travel outside of their small community is possible through books! By providing these resources for my students, you will enable them to experience new literature, as well as grow into expressive, thoughtful readers!
Your help will allow my students to become much more fluent readers, improve their oral and written communication skills, and make it possible for them to practice reading in an engaging, authentic way.
