Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Due to Hurricane Harvey, our school, as well as the district, has lost funds. This has affected the supplies our principal tries so hard to give our students. My school is located in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood. The students must be in a lower income bracket to qualify for pre-k. Many of their parents are either from Hispanic countries or are first generation Americans. It is in the classroom that my four and five year olds first develop their feelings about school, learning how it relates to them. They come in eager and ready to learn about the world around them. They especially love learning through play .
My Project
Materials such as Learning Letters Activity Centers - Nuts About Math! Peg Creations Light Board,Magnetic Letter Builders and Play-Doh all help develop eye/hand coordination and build muscle control.
The development of strong fine motor skills in pre-k were a strong and consistent indicator of future academic success through the elementary grades.
Developing fine motor skills helps build the foundation for important future skills like writing and self-care.
Having these materials will encourage my students to choose these items when they have free choice at centers. The students will be having fun while improving their eye/hand coordination and building strong muscle control.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
