My students need the Sand Trays and Sandpaper Numerals to help with letter and number formation, while the Gel Boards and Magnetic tools help develop the fine-motor grasp!

My Students
What's in a name, if you don't know how to write it? While learning to write is considered fun by some, its not considered fun by most! Writing and building our fine motor muscles do not come naturally! As a teacher, its my job to increase these fine motor writing skills in fun and engaging ways.
My classroom is made up of 24 excited and eager Kindergarten students in a Title 1, high-poverty area.
All children receive either free or reduced breakfast and lunch. Many students have little support at home with reading and math, let alone on fine-motor skills and techniques. When these children struggle, its my responsibility to supplement their learning in engaging, new ways.
My Project
Over an hour of our classroom time is spent in literacy stations. So much of what is expected of students in Kindergarten is to learn to read and write, so this time is devoted toward building those skills. These materials-- such as the sand writing boxes, magnet trays, and other tactile supplements-- will be used to help building these writing techniques. Learning to write opens a world of possibilities for young students.
I want my students to have every possibility of success!
They deserve it! Learning to write is just one of those components. My goal is to have the children wanting to write and being able to write their own names before they leave my classroom for first grade. Writing can open up endless possibilities, as well as new worlds.
