Building, Exploring, and Problem Solving in PreK!

My Students

My PreK scholars are amazing! They are the only full day class in our school. They are eager to learn and love being in school. Our school is very diverse and takes pride in welcoming and engaging all scholars and families. We are committed to creating a school where kids feel safe, loved, and motivated.

As a school, we take pride in creating an environment where we celebrate diversity, discuss and study racial equity, and "inspire all scholars to reach high levels of social and academic achievement and to become future leaders through a collaborative system of support" (our school's mission statement).

My Project

The first thing my scholars do everyday is eat breakfast and then head to the rug for "Ease into the Day". Ease into the Day is very important and sets the tone for the day. Scholars get to build, practice specific academic skills, and interact/problem solve with each other. As the teacher, I specially plan the activities on the carpet to promote the skills I would like my scholars to practice. The PowerClix Frames will allow my scholars to identify shapes and put shapes together to build new things. The Twigs will also allow my scholars to explore their creativity, work together, and use their imaginations.

My scholars LOVE having new manipulatives and puzzles to start out their day.

The interactions and drive for learning are greatly increased when my scholars have exciting materials. Having a variety of materials and new floor puzzles for my scholars is so important to strengthen math and social skills. My scholars deserve the BEST!
