Building Excitement About Reading with Chromebooks, Part 1

My students need three Chromebooks, mice, and Google licenses to build our reading community.

My Students

These fourth graders are amazing and deserve to have every opportunity to grow and learn. One hundred percent of the students in our school receive free breakfast and lunch through a federal grant. Even with the challenges my students face, they continue to push themselves and have high aspirations.

My students are amazing, inquisitive, active, and enthusiastic learners!

As their teacher, I want to help them keep reaching for their goals. In the classroom, I work to find different ways to help them focus on their learning and meet their various needs.

All of my students thrive on choice and active involvement. They each have their own interests and want to pursue them. They love to participate in class and help others. I want to make my classroom a place in which they all have the opportunity to succeed in their own way.

My Project

These Chromebooks, mice, and Google licenses will allow students to explore and share their reading. This will help my room become a student-centered classroom in which students actively share their excitement for reading. Students will be able to explore new books online and collaborate on research. Google apps will allow students to share new information and exciting new reads. Adobe Spark will be used by my students to create videos of books they have read and share them with others at school and home.

With students leading the way, they will be able to encourage each other to share and gain a love of reading.

My students are hungry for knowledge, and having this technology in the classroom will help them reach beyond our school walls. They will help themselves and each other grow through the reading, research, and collaboration that these tools will provide.
