Building Engineers for Tomorrow!

My students need Picasso tiles, Squigz, an organizer, pencils boxes and other hands-on items for our kindergarten classroom.

My Students

The students in my classroom all come from different backgrounds, family dynamics, socioeconomic statuses, religions, and belief systems. Some have never known hunger, and others don't know where their next meal will come from. Some take care of younger brothers and sisters after school. Some have stay at home moms that are there to help with homework when they get home. Some have parents that work two and three jobs to make sure their needs are met. Some have computers at home. Others are homeless. Some are the first English speakers in their families. Some are refugees.

However, my students all have one thing in common--they come to school each day, bright eyed, and ready to learn.

I draw inspiration from their enthusiasm to tackle each day, no matter what other circumstances they are dealing with.

My Project

Kindergarteners are hands-on learners. In a world of testing and sitting at desks; it’s easy to forget that they are five year olds! My children need these basic items for STEM bins in our classroom. These items will teach them to create by giving them tasks, such as building a bridge with Picasso Tiles, creating a habitat with Kinetic sand, or building a tower with Legos. Children will improve the fine motor skills needed for learning to write. They will also be able to use their natural creativity to better their problem solving skills—all while having fun! All of these things are necessities in a successful kindergarten classroom!
