This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Kindergarten is awesome! My students are very eager to learn more and more every day. They are extremely curious and they love to read and engage in Math! I am a Kindergarten, bilingual teacher at a school where most of our students are struggling readers and are one or more years below grade level in reading.

It is my number one priority to get my students reading on grade level, or above and to give them a strong Math foundation so that they are well prepared for first grade.

I am at a low socioeconomic school where many of our students have tremendous learning gaps. Many of our students have difficult home lives, so it is extremely important to provide them with a safe, caring, and positive learning environment.

My Project

All of these math materials will be used in my Math block. I will use these math games and materials in centers so that my students practice how to count and represent numbers in various ways. The ten frame boards will allow my students to practice many important skills such as representing numbers and composing and decomposing numbers. The numbers mats and games such as the play dough numbers mats and number strings, will allow my students to practice their rote counting skills, number identification and writing.

Math workstations are very important because it allows them to practice all of the skills that we have learned and these materials would allow the to do so.
