This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love that my students come to school each day with curiosity, energy, and a willingness to learn through play. Many of them are visual and tactile learners who benefit greatly from lessons that include movement, music, and storytelling. Watching them light up when they grasp a new concept through hands-on activities is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.

These resources will bring early math concepts to life in a way that is accessible, meaningful, and fun.

The Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons book and hand puppet will support story-based lessons in subtraction and number recognition. The Ten Black Dots book will help my students visualize numbers in creative ways and promote number correspondence through art. Most importantly, the Counting Peg Board for Kids will serve as a daily manipulative for strengthening one-to-one correspondence, number identification, and early addition skills. Together, these materials will provide my students with multiple ways to engage in foundational math learning.
