This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a Title 1, K-8 Academy. I serve grades 6-8. Approximately 80% of my students come from low income households. My students have a way of amazing me every single day. Each of them is unique in their own way.
They are caring, thoughtful, inspiring, hard-working and bold.
They all come from very diverse backgrounds as we are located in a multicultural area. I find that it is often they do not have books from authors that are as diverse as they are or they cannot relate to the characters of a novel. Many of them do not have any books at home as they have limited resources. It is my responsibility to provide these resources. Please help me in doing so!
My Project
These materials will make a difference in my students' learning because they will be able to listen to the audio on the lessons they are required to complete online. Often times, they must complete the lessons regardless of whether or not they can hear them, making it extremely difficult to complete them. Many of my students cannot afford to buy their own, so I believe it is my duty to provide the resources they need in order to succeed.
The headphones will maximize the effectiveness of their online reading lessons.
It will allow them to listen to the instructions of the program rather than guessing and doing poorly. The program is very beneficial and can advance their reading skills tremendously but in order to use the program properly, headphones must be used.
More than half of students from low‑income households
