My Project

In my 9th grade ELA classroom, students are not only learning how to read and write—they’re learning how to think. Through novels like The Hunger Games, nonfiction like Flowers in the Gutter, and memoirs like Night, students explore big ideas about power, propaganda, justice, and resistance while building skills in critical thinking, persuasive writing, and media literacy.

To make these lessons meaningful and accessible to every student, I am requesting classroom sets of The Hunger Games and supplies for interactive notebooks.

These notebooks allow students to take ownership of their learning through creative, hands-on activities like foldables, graphic organizers, and reflection pages. However, many students cannot afford to purchase these materials on their own. Your support will ensure that all students, regardless of background, have equal access to the tools they need to stay organized, engaged, and successful.

With your help, every student will have the chance to dive deeply into reading, participate in thoughtful discussions, and express their ideas clearly—whether they're analyzing the Capitol's control in The Hunger Games or crafting arguments in our persuasive writing unit. Your generosity will make a lasting difference in their literacy journey.
