My Project
Utilizing classroom instruments to provide an outlet of individual expression is a must for today's students. Learning the basics of musical creation leads to a rich experience of artistic development. These instruments, such as the Chromatic Melody Bells, are an important tool to be utilized during music class instruction, demonstration and performance.
Rhythm and melody are foundational elements of music, and providing these instruments gives students of any ability level and socio-economic background a chance to enrich their souls through music.
While many school districts are cutting the arts programs due to staff shortages and budget cuts, I whole-heartedly believe that music is essential to brain development, fine motor skills progress and social interaction. Music also has cross-curricular benefits, as rhythm and math are so closely related, as are English Language Arts to reading, writing and singing song lyrics. The science of sound and the social aspects of cultural song both support core curriculum studies.
Building on the basics of beat, pitch, duration, lyrics and expression, students very often find music class as an oasis from the pressure of their day. Almost everyone has a favorite genre of music to which they listen, and these preferred styles can reach even the most obstinate student. Finding ways to build community through music can even break down barriers and unite students and educators from all walks of life.
