My Students

Some of my students have not yet developed the language skills, cognitive ability or confidence yet to communicate effectively with their peers and adults in their life.

My class is made up of fifteen, three and four year old children.

They represent eight different countries and speak ten different languages. Our school embraces the differences of every student by providing many multicultural activities and encouraging parental involvement.

My Project

Using an iPad in the class enhances the global development of all my students. The children are free to use the educational apps that are on my iPad to practice language skills, math concepts and science inquiry. We also encourage the children to develop their story telling ability by interpreting photographs and videos that they have taken or the teachers. During these activities, the teachers assist them with language development by first dictating what they are viewing. Perhaps one of the most important ways we use the iPad in class is videotaping parents reading books or singing songs in their native language. When the children see their parents or hear their native language being spoken, it builds a positive sense of self.

Having a second iPad in the class will give us the opportunity to double all activities we already do with one.

It will give the children more time on the iPad and help them develop their skills. Students will be able to extend their knowledge and build on their current interests. With this iPad students will have more time and access to become independent learners. The use of technology is a crucial part of our everyday life, so exposing students early on will be the key to their success.
