Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work with a group of 15 incredible students with unmatched potential. I work with 10th grade students who have various disabilities that affect their ability to progress in reading skills. Many of my students are far below level in reading comprehension, vocabulary acquisition, and reading fluency. With limited access to reading materials that is both at their individual reading level as well as their interest level, my students struggle to remain motivated to grow and improve in these skills.
My goal for each and every one of my students is to help them build confidence and see their potential for success as we work together to bridge the gaps in their reading skills.
With access to these magazines and the online materials, I will be able to provide interesting and accessible materials to help them reach their goals. Reading materials that discuss current events, topics of interest, and pressing issues that are written in language that can be understood by those at a variety of reading levels will assist my students in reaching individual goals while also supporting their growth as the future leaders of our society.
