This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a wonderful group of second grade students. I have a very diverse classroom environment that makes all of my students feel safe and welcomed. I have a wide range of students who come from all different backgrounds and each has a story that is unique and plays a factor in their learning. I run my classroom as if we are a family, a team, as leaders for each other. We support each others learning and we celebrate all our success.
I teach at a Title 1 School.
All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. For the majority of students, this is their only chance of the day to have a meal. Despite any hardship that my students face in their home lives, the students in my class are eager to learn and love school. Every child that enters my room is loved and know that they are each and every day.
My Project
I am asking for stories to help build comprehension. Most of my students are English language learners. They do not have reading support at home. I am asking for games and stories that are all to help build comprehension. Students will be using these on a daily basis to help build their reading skills.
The games I am asking for will be games that will help students to think critically about the stories that they are reading.
The games will be extra practice to build fluency and comprehension. I am also asking for sound phones. I am asking for these so students can use them while reading. I have 30 students and it can get loud sometimes. The phones will help students to be able to whisper read and still hear themselves. Thank you for your consideration in donating to my classroom.
